Sport and Cultural

The following sporting and culture activities are offered at Tainui School.

Kapa Haka – More than 80 children currently belong to REHUTAI (our kapa haka group) tutored by Komene Cassidy. Our most recent performance was at the 2016 Otago Schools Māori and Pacific Island Festival.  The junior group (Year 1 – Year 3 tamariki) performed on their own this year, leaving the senior group to fill the stage for their performance.

T Ball – Usually available to Y2-5 children. Games are played on Saturday mornings at Bathgate Park in Terms 4 and 1.

Futsal – Available to Year 3-6 children. Games are played after school on Wednesday, at the Edgar Centre in Terms 1 and 4.

Touch Rugby – Available to Year 5-6 children. Games are played after school on Thursdays, at the Oval in Terms 1 and 4.

Mini Ball – Available to Year 5-6 children. Games are played after school on Thursdays, at the Edgar Centre in Terms 2 and 3.

Netball – Available to Year 3-6 children. Games are played after school on Tuesdays, at the Edgar Centre in Terms 2 and 3.

 Hockey – Available to children 8 years and over.  Games are played after school on Wednesdays, at the McMillan Turf in Terms 2 and 3.

School Show – A biennial event in which all children perform on stage.  Our next show is due in 2018.
